Canada CRS Score: How to Improve It
What is the CRS?
The Comprehensive Ranking System scores Express Entry candidates out of 1,200 points. The highest-ranked candidates in each draw receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
The biggest levers
- Language: retake IELTS/CELPIP or TEF — a higher band can add dozens of points.
- Education: get an Educational Credential Assessment; a higher degree scores more.
- Work experience: more skilled years (especially Canadian) add points.
- French: strong French adds bonus points, even as a second language.
- Provincial Nomination (PNP): a nomination adds 600 points and is effectively a guarantee.
