Canada Express Entry: From Profile to Permanent Residence
How Express Entry really works
Express Entry is Canada's points-based system for skilled immigrants. You create a profile, get a CRS score, and the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply.
The real steps
- Get documents ready: an approved language test (IELTS/CELPIP or TEF/TCF) and an ECA if you studied abroad
- Create your profile and enter the pool — the CRS ranks you
- Wait for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a round of invitations
- Submit your complete electronic application (eAPR) within 60 days
- Give biometrics (within 30 days of the letter), complete your medical exam and police certificates
- IRCC processes the application (often about 6 months)
- Approval → Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a PR visa if needed; confirm your PR to land
